In Central London, Masakali charts a delicious course through India’s culinary map, from lively chaat to fragrant biryani and tandoor-fired classics. The menu leans into bold spice, bright acidity and comforting smoke, inviting grazing, sharing and the sort of second helpings that feel inevitable.
The atmosphere encourages relaxed, sociable dining, with plates designed to be passed around and savoured together. The opening act is all crunch and tang - masala papadum with spiced salsa, chana garlic tossed with curry leaves, and charminar samosa chaat layered with tamarind chutney, yoghurt and sev. A lighter, greener turn comes with avocado and kale chaat jewelled with pomegranate, while tempura cauliflower arrives in a moreish curry mayo that begs for another bite.
From the grill and the pot, textures deepen and aromas bloom. Basil paneer tikka and classic chicken tikka carry the tandoor kiss, while murgha musallam wraps tomato-rich comfort around charred morsels. Slow-cooked methi mutton curry brings fenugreek warmth, best paired with soft naan or saffron pulao rice. For a celebratory flourish, biryani is layered with marinated tiger prawns and lamb, or chicken is folded through spiced basmati in a Hyderabadi style.
Desserts offer playful nostalgia, from gulab jamun churros in sticky syrup to rasmalai tres leches that soaks up every last sigh. Lassi arrives sweet or fruit-led, accompanied by sprightly mocktails to complete the experience.
Settle in, pass the plates, and let Masakali make the meal sing.
