At The Orangery at Zetter Bloomsbury lets Afternoon Tea takes centre stage with a poised, contemporary touch. The kitchen leans into British comfort and patisserie finesse, balancing nostalgia with bright, modern accents.

The traditional spread moves from delicate finger sandwiches, coronation chicken with sultanas on Viennese bread, and smoked salmon brightened with preserved lemon on rye caraway, to warm scones, from vanilla and buttermilk to blackcurrant and sultana. Sweet finishes include a lemon drizzle cake layered with lemon curd, and a strawberry and elderflower entremet that feels both light and indulgent. A dedicated vegan afternoon tea mirrors the occasion, with coronation chickpeas, Applewood smoked cheddar with red onion, and raisin and sultana scones served with whipped oat Chantilly cream and strawberry preserve.

Beyond tea time, the parlour menu widens the canvas: burrata with Isle of Wight tomatoes, aged balsamic and pine kernels, or a crisp vegetable ribbon salad with chimichurri, almond and sprouting beans. Heartier plates include a Cornish crab and smoked salmon crumpet and the house Zetter cheeseburger, while desserts stay resolutely classic with strawberries and cream or a Granny smith and peach crumble crowned with Madagascan vanilla ice cream.

The pour matters here, too: choose breakfast tea or Earl Grey, or add a celebratory sparkle with a glass of Lanson Pere Et Fils Champagne. Settle in for an unhurried catch-up or a treat-yourself moment. Book soon, take a seat, and let the afternoon steep to perfection.
