Ours brings a Mediterranean-tinged warmth to Castle Street, setting up shop in a reimagined historic building at the heart of Liverpool City Centre. By day it moves at a relaxed, sun-soaked tempo: artisan coffee in hand, brunch classics drifting past to cosy seating and bar stools. Founded by the team behind So Salsa, it was conceived as a modern social hub, where friends, colleagues and celebrants can eat, drink and settle in amid Mediterranean-inspired décor and a gently buzzing bar.

Comfort is the keynote, from hearty breakfasts through unhurried brunch. A Guinness brisket toastie arrives layered with slow-roasted meat, Guinness gravy and smoked cheese; a Philly cheesesteak ciabatta packs rump steak, peppers and roast garlic mayo. There are truffle and parmesan fries to share and halloumi fingers for dipping, before yielding to old-school sweetness: sticky toffee pudding or a triple chocolate brownie. Those with a soft spot for brunch will linger over French toast or buttermilk pancakes with yoghurt, honey and fruit, or Nutella with strawberries.
