South India's food traditions are rooted in centuries of trade, agriculture, and regional identity. Madurai brings that inheritance to Glasgow City Centre, with a kitchen that works with rice, lentils, coconut, and spice with the confidence those foundations deserve.

The menu moves between the familiar and the less expected. Mains feature fragrant biryanis, curries drawing on coconut, tamarind, and curry leaf, and crisp dosas rolled with spiced lamb or chicken. For a standout option from the grill, the Vaattuna paneer broccoli features cottage cheese, broccoli, and peppers in a delicately charred, creamy spiced marinade.

Starters range from Inji Puli wings glazed with tamarind and jaggery to lamb ularthu - tender cubes stir-fried with black pepper, green chillies, and curry leaves. To finish, desserts span the traditional to the contemporary and are no less considered.

Staying true to the naturally gluten-free traditions of South Indian cooking, the kitchen proudly holds Coeliac UK accreditation for total peace of mind. Madurai is suited equally to a swift lunch or an evening without a clock.
