Hazel Glasgow

Hazel takes its cue from the hazel branch on the city’s historic crest, a motif echoed in a neighbouring stained-glass window at AC by Marriott.

Inside, the mood is all calm and dappled light, an urban grove in Glasgow City Centre where the day’s bustle recedes and time stretches for a quiet coffee, an unhurried lunch, or a lingering dinner.

Small plates set the tone: a cajun crispy duck egg meeting black pudding and pancetta over pea purée and mustard mayo, or a pan-seared Orkney scallop with morcilla, chorizo, red onion jam and roasted red pepper coulis. From the grill, a ribeye steak arrives with classic trimmings, while an angus beef burger leans on a house relish to do the talking.

Large plates roam further: sea bass glossed with chill and lime butter over pink peppercorn and caper crushed potato and nutmeg-kissed spinach, and a haunch of Highland venison with fondant potato, heritage carrots, celeriac purée and bramble jus.

Comfort sidles in via mac and cheese beneath a four-cheese crust, while grilled leeks, romesco, shaved manchego, and cracked hazelnuts bring texture. To finish, a hazelnut coffee financier and a banoffee cheesecake strike notes of whisky, caramel and tablet crumb.
