In the heart of Glasgow City Centre, Chaophraya offers an elegant escape from the urban bustle.

Set across four characterful floors, its contemporary Thai design plays against the building’s heritage bones, creating a calm, light-filled sanctuary. Multiple private dining spaces make it as suited to intimate gatherings as it is to jubilant celebrations.

It is the sort of place that invites lingering: a toast upstairs before drifting to a quiet corner, jasmine rice steaming on the table and conversation rising with the spice.

The kitchen leans into Thailand’s great balancing act of sweet, sour, salty and spicy, with aromatics such as lemongrass, galangal and lime leaves threading through the experience. Comfort comes in slow-cooked curries like gaeng massaman and gaeng panang, while bright, brothy notes sing in tom yum and tom kha.

From the wok and grill, dishes such as pad ka prao and the smoky suea rong hai bring heat, depth and a satisfying char, with noodles like udon pad kee mao talay adding a generous swing of seafood and texture. To finish, mango sticky rice or a coconut crème brûlée with raspberry curd brings a soft landing.

For a taste of Thailand with poise and polish, step off the street and sink in. Book ahead, bring an appetite, and let the flavours do the talking.
