A simple, laid-back diner with stunning waterfront views and a convivial atmosphere, Down the Hatch is making quite a name for itself in South Queensferry.

Situated at Port Edgar Marina, you can take a seat and watch the boats bob on the water while enjoying a plate of fries and gravy.

Poutine is a specialty here, and you can top yours with tasty ingredients like crispy fried onions, garlic mayo, sunny-side eggs, and rotisserie chicken. They even offer haggis or maple bacon as poutine toppings.

Tuck into a hearty burger, stacked with smoked cheese and caramelised onions, or indulge in a fully loaded hot dog with grilled onions and peppers in Montreal seasoning. Vegetarians are not forgotten, there are plenty of hearty options like halloumi, Moving Mountains meat-free burgers, and veggie dogs.

Down the Hatch also dishes up breakfast favourites. If you’re in the mood for a full Scottish skillet, you’re in safe hands. With a generous plateful of bacon, sausage, and haggis, as well as eggs, hash browns, and plenty of tomato and beans, this is the Scottish brekkie of dreams. Warning: not for the faint-hearted.
