Taisteal brings a spirit of adventure to New Town, Edinburgh, its name meaning travel or journey. This family-run neighbourhood restaurant champions the best Scottish produce while borrowing ingredients and techniques from around the globe, folding fine-dining finesse into an easy-going setting. It is casual yet refined, with a focus on flavour, craft and warm hospitality.

Head Chef Gordon Craig and his wife, Lucy, conceived Taisteal while travelling in China, and now, with a small and dedicated team, they serve plates that wander with purpose. Think chicken liver parfait with brioche, shallot and raisin chutney, or teriyaki salmon brightened by yuzu cucumber and oyster mayo - familiar comforts given a worldly nudge.

Mains continue the journey: smoked and cured duck meets hazelnut satay, edamame beans, sweet potato fondant and a delicate shiitake samosa, while seabass à la Française arrives with a crisp potato croquette. For those with a sweet tooth, buttermilk panna cotta with macerated strawberries and granola sits alongside a playful passionfruit and chocolate baked Alaska.
