On the glittering edge of Cardiff Bay, PizzaExpress Mermaid Quay pairs a stylish, contemporary look with an easy, relaxed mood. Soft lighting and an open kitchen set the scene, while al fresco tables make the most of those harbour views. A five minutes’ stroll from the Millennium Centre, it is as handy as it is handsome.

In the kitchen, Italian-inspired flavours take centre stage with the brand’s iconic Romana pizzas: thin, crisp and made for lively conversation. From a faithful Margherita to the heat of American Hot and the characterful Padana, alongside signatures such as Duo Romana and BBQ Burnt Ends, the line-up nods to Roman tradition while embracing a modern Cardiff waterfront spirit.

Small plates start the tone on a convivial note, from marinated green olives to truffle dough balls, with comfort close at hand in al forno favourites like Pollo Pesto and Lasagna Classica. Fresh salads lift the pace, and desserts promise a sweet finish, while the bar offers Prosecco, Pinot Grigio and cocktails that run from a Strawberry Daiquiri to a Passion Fruit Martini.

Friendly, attentive service seals the welcome, whether it is a breezy lunch, a family gathering or an unhurried evening by the water. Book a table, bask in the bay, and let that Romana crunch make waves.
