Market House brings a quietly confident charm to Cambridge city centre. Set within a striking Grade II listed building overlooking the historic Market Square, it unfolds across multiple floors, with a refined restaurant and elegant private dining rooms above, and a cosy, candle-lit wine bar below. Independent in spirit and polished in service, it is the sort of address where Cambridge’s past and present meet over plates that feel both assured and adventurous.

In the kitchen, modern British cooking rubs shoulders with vibrant Asian accents, guided by seasonality and a fondness for local ingredients. A warm tear of Market House focaccia might precede burrata Pugliese or Pinney’s smoked Scottish salmon, each dish bright with freshness. Mains offer thoughtful nods to both land and sea: think the precision of a grilled octopus tentacle or the richness of Norfolk lamb duo (braised belly & croquette), with triple-cooked chips or truffle and Parmesan fries providing a crisp, golden accompaniment. To finish, Alex’s Miso Coconut & Passion Fruit Cheesecake or a Raspberry & Basil Panna Cotta delivers a finale that lingers long after the last spoonful.

From leisurely lunches to celebratory suppers, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and well-paced, while the team remain attentive without ever intruding. Private dining and events are handled with equal care, ensuring every visit feels personal and memorable.

Book a table, take in the view, and let the gentle hum of the market set the rhythm. At Market House, the city’s flavour is served with flair — and just a little flourish.
