Amarone Kitchen brings a quietly confident Italian charm to the city.

This timeless spot is steeped in history, housed within a historic Georgian address, once home to the King of Bath, Richard "Beau" Nash. The setting nods to Bath’s storied past while the kitchen looks south, embracing la cucina italiana with an assured, contemporary touch.

The menu favours substance over show: freshly made pasta that clings to sauce just so, seafood drawn from the Dorset coast, and locally sourced steaks cooked with precision.

To start, share plates of creamy burrata with spinach and pine nuts on bruschetta, steak tartare lifted by capers and a confit egg yolk, or smoky skewers of grilled king prawns in a spicy butter sauce.

Think baked aubergine topped with tomato and stretchy mozzarella, or a crisp-edged chicken Milanese that lands with comforting swagger. Bowls of bucatini alla carbonara balance creamy yolk and guanciale, while risotto ai frutti di mare arrives bright with a citrus butter sauce.

For a taste of Italy in a slice of Bath’s history, secure a table at Amarone and settle in. Come for the spritz, stay for the spoonfuls, and let the evening do the rest.
