In the heart of Manchester City Centre’s Kampus, Salon Madre Manchester channels the carefree spirit of Mexico City’s dive bars and pool halls. Sister to Madre next door, this tequila bar and taco spot brings colour and momentum to the neighbourhood, blending Mexican street food, agave-fuelled cocktails and a social hum that builds into late-night dining.

The cooking leans bold and generous: al pastor tacos with pineapple and salsa verde keep things punchy, while quesadillas folded with melted queso Oaxaca ooze comfort.

Twice-cooked chicken wings bring a choice of Mexican Cola or Yucatan Buffalo heat, and there is mischief in the sharing stakes too, from Cadillac Nachos piled high with totopos, cheese sauce, house salsas, refried beans and guacamole to Elote with chipotle mayo and parmesan.

Designed for play as much as for plates, Salon Madre’s communal space centres on pool tables, with screens showing sport and bursts of Lucha Libre. Gather the crew, claim a corner and linger. Drop in for tacos, stay for the break, and let the good times take the shot.
