A South London stalwart with a forward-looking spirit, Kennington Tandoori has been a vibrant fixture in the capital’s culinary landscape since 1985.

Known for reimagining Indian cookery, the restaurant blends traditional flavours with modern techniques to create plates that feel both deeply rooted and refreshingly current. Inside, the dining room is stylish and polished yet warmly hospitable - the kind of inviting space where meals are meant to linger and a refreshing mango lassi feels entirely at home.

From the clay oven’s smoky char to silky, slow-simmered sauces, the menu is a dynamic showcase of regional heat and spice. Options range from Angara chicken tikka served with a bright chutney and Old Delhi chicken tikka masala layered in tomato richness, to a Naga chilli chicken that delivers a measured, fiery hum. Elsewhere, the Goan lamb vindaloo carries a sharp, satisfying tang, while the overnight-cooked makhani daal offers a velvety depth.

Seafood is treated with equal flair. Standouts include the king prawn mustard malai and KT’s pan-seared cod enriched with warming spices and coconut, served alongside street-food nods like the Calcutta chilli paneer. To finish, a decadent chocolate and cardamom mousse or classic gajar ki halwa provides a beautifully sweet conclusion to the kitchen's pioneering vision.

Book a table, settle in, and let the spice trail do the talking.
