Tucked away in Pimlico, Taro brings the spirit of a traditional taishu shokudo to the local dining scene. These casual neighbourhood eateries are a staple of everyday life in Japan, known for serving honest, comforting food in a relaxed setting.

Founded by Mr Taro, whose first visit to London in 1979 inspired a lifelong passion for sharing Japanese cuisine and culture, the restaurant offers an authentic dining experience with a warm, welcoming approach.

Across the menu, classic Japanese favourites are prepared with care. Guests can start with miso soup, salted edamame, or a fresh seaweed salad before exploring homemade bento boxes filled with chicken or salmon teriyaki. Popular rice bowls like chicken and salmon teri don offer satisfying simplicity, while yakisoba delivers stir-fried noodles packed with flavour.

For something heartier, steaming bowls of ramen feature seafood, chicken, and rich beef options. Meanwhile, sushi lovers can select from a wide array of nigiri - including tuna, salmon, eel, and sea bream - alongside hand-rolled temaki such as spicy tuna and avocado.

Relaxed, friendly, and full of character, Taro is the kind of place that suits any occasion. Book a table and discover why it's been bringing a taste of Japan to London for decades.
