Set on the banks of the Thames at Battersea Power Station, Fiume by Sartoria brings a modern Italian sensibility. Its riverside address sets an easy rhythm for convivial dining, where the bustle of the neighbourhood meets the warmth of Italian hospitality.

The kitchen moves with confidence from bright crudo to comforting classics. Vitello tonnato is silken and savoury, while tuna tartare is lifted with lemon zest and chives. Salads show contrast and character, from the bittersweet crunch of Radicchio with pears and walnuts to the nostalgic simplicity of Russia. Sourdough, breadsticks, flatbread and soft focaccia arrive with olive oil, a nod to unfussy generosity at the table.

Pasta beats at the heart of it all: tonnarelli carbonara with guanciale is rich and elemental, while calamarata alla pescatora dives into mussels, clams and cherry tomatoes. From carne e pesce, polpette al sugo comfort in tomato and basil, and tagliata di manzo pairs Aberdeen Angus with rocket, parmesan and balsamic. Pinsa brings a Roman spirit to the party, from a classic margherita to the fiery davola with fior di Latte and calabrian nduja, with sides like spinaci ripassati and patate al forno to round things out.

For twilight suppers, Fiume suits the moment. Book a table by the water and go with the flow.
