Bistro Aix

Enveloped in a bohemian ambiance, AIX delivers a slice of classic France on London's Crouch End Broadway. With velvet drapes and trailing greenery, the decor has the feel of a Soho House meets a conservatory. The dining area itself is an intimate space, but there is also a private dining room that can host an additional 28 guests.

Whilst we might be in North-West London rather than Occitanie, the menu is very much on the Côte d'Azur theme. Starters include the signature Caramelised Onion and Anchovy Tart (Pissaladiere) and Dorset Snails in Garlic Butter. For entrees, their dish of Rhubarb and Toasted Brioche pairs perfectly with the pan-seared Foie Gras, but if it's fish you're after, the scallops with samphire and herb butter are worth a punt.

Main courses include a delicate serving of Cornish Hake with sautéed potatoes, tomatoes, and grilled courgette. If you're feeling particularly extravagant, the Dover Sole Meuniere with butter caper sauce, spinach, and potatoes is well worth its weight.

A cheeseboard and Aix house specialty dessert later, you'll be transported to the left bank of the Seine, kicking back by the Champs-Élysées. And with the promise of an unrushed and tranquil dining experience, where better place to enjoy the very best of classic French cuisine on the great continent of E6.
