Black Tap Westfield Stratford brings a swaggering slice of New York to East London’s shopping heart, channelling burger-and-shake bravado with a distinctly local pulse.

The room is loud in character yet crafted for ease: street art and bright murals play against signature black-and-white striped floors, monochrome detailing, boombox motifs and domed mirrors. Pockets of energy ebb and flow, from buzzing corners to more relaxed nooks, all under a hip-hop soundtrack and neon glow that draws friends, families and shoppers alike.

The mood is indulgent and unapologetic: towering craft burgers, a half-pound wagyu the champ dripping with blue cheese and rocket, and CrazyShakes that arrive like edible theatre, stacked with cake, candy and cookies, built to be shared and photographed.

Flavours come big and bold. There is the sweet-and-spicy pull of Korean BBQ wings, the satisfying crunch of hot fried pickles with a hit of buttermilk-dill, and a truffle and black garlic spinach dip scooped up with warm fried naan.

Richness is dialled up with The Black Truffle Burger, its havarti and black garlic peppercorn aioli lifted by a truffle-yuzu vinaigrette, while crisp salads offer a fresher counterpoint. Fries stay classic, onion rings come house made, and there is fried mozzarella for those chasing full-throttle comfort.

Swing by mid-spree or make a night of it. Bring your appetite, your camera, and a sense of fun. At Black Tap, the shake is as mighty as the bite.
