Cuisine: A La Carte, Contemporary, French
Price Point: Mains from £10-£20

Traditional food that whisks you away to provincial France; La Petite Ferme is French cooking at its finest.

With an interior replicating the inside of a country barn, you couldn't feel further from the hustle and bustle of the capital. Hay bales are stacked to the rafters, tables are tucked into softly lit corners and there are enough hen figurines to start a small farm. Welcome to the French countryside!

Feeling brave? Begin with a plate of Burgundy snails drenched in garlic butter or keep it simple with some sourdough bread with fresh courgette, tomato and goats cheese. Or really push the boat out with their quack burger, a mini duck confit in a bun that'll get everyone talking.

For mains, choose from a comforting range of dishes fresh from the cocotte, like poulet basquaise, tartiflette de savoie and a gooey risotto with tangy cherry tomatoes and comté cheese. There's also a duck aguillette and tuna steak for the meat and fish lovers, as well as some suitably luxurious sides. Truffle mash anyone?

The restaurant was welcoming and had an intimate neighbourhood vibe to it. There was also a life jazz band playing which was a bonus. We had the escargot and the carrot croquettes to start with which were both delicious! Then we ordered a chicken dish and a calamari & ratatouille main - simple clean flavours but nevertheless tasty! The truffle heaven mash was such a delight - punchy flavour yet light in texture. We ended the night with Cafe Gourmand which consisted of 3 mini desserts (lemon sorbet, lavender creme brulee and the chocolate fondant) - the sorbet was fresh but unfortunately the creme brulee was a little runny, although it was flavourful. I will definitely be back as the savoury dishes were executed well and I'd like to try the raclette!

Cheese, cheese, cheese and snails....! So good.

What a lovely little place in Clerkenwell, highly recommend. Tried snails for the first time, had the most tasty onion soup and indulged in beautifully presented salads and Cocettes.

The solo waiter did well at single handedly managing over 18 guests in the restaurant but we didn’t mind the slower relaxed service.

The place is super cosy and the food was great!

For dessert I recommend the Cafe Gourmand which is a sampler of the other desserts.
