Lantern brings a warm glow to Clerkenwell Road, a relaxed and reliable Chinese kitchen, a short stroll from Farringdon.

With friendly service and an easy-going bustle, it draws a steady mix of local residents, office regulars and curious visitors, all looking for comforting classics and modern favourites done well.

Generous portions and good value underpin the experience, whether settling in for a casual supper or whisking a takeaway back to the desk or doorstep. The cooking celebrates breadth and balance: neat parcels of Sichuan dumplings with a chilli kick; prawn toast and salt and pepper shredded chicken that hit the nostalgic sweet spot, steaming bowls of hot and sour or wonton soup to soothe and revive.

Wok-fried noodles deliver that coveted smoky edge, while steamed jasmine or egg fried rice make faithful companions. Black pepper dishes bring aromatic heat, and Beijing roast duck takes centre stage, a timeless marker of celebration as well as everyday pleasure.

With its warm atmosphere and dependable menu, Lantern has all the makings of a neighbourhood favourite. Drop by, tuck in, and follow the glow to Lantern. There is plenty to light up your appetite.
