Perched in Glasgow’s Southside, Church on the Hill is a neighbourhood hub with a big-hearted welcome. It is the sort of place where quiz nights and live music rub shoulders with family get-togethers and the weekend’s sport, all buoyed by a well‑stocked bar and a team that keeps things warm and unfussy. Community sits at its core, with a menu built around locally‑sourced ingredients and plenty of room for everyone at the table.

In the kitchen, comfort takes centre stage with a modern, transatlantic twist. Think a proper steak and ale pie with rich gravy, golden battered haddock with chips and mushy peas, and Detroit‑style square pies by the slice and tray. The Saint Marg keeps it simple with mozzarella, basil and good olive oil, while Holy Pepperoni turns up the heat with sweet hot honey and jalapeños. Shareables set the tone, from chicken tenders ready to dip, to baked mozzarella bubbling in vodka tomato sauce with focaccia for tearing.

Lighter bites and greener bowls keep things breezy: a smoked brisket sandwich with a lick of chilli, a fish finger sandwich piled with tartare and pickles, and a summer halloumi salad threaded with bulgar wheat, rocket and citrus. For the finale, sticky toffee pudding or a brownie and ice cream sundae do the honours. Sundays bring roast sirloin or roast chicken, and the little ones are looked after with mac and cheese and a cheeseburger.

Gather friends and family, settle in for a match night or a lazy roast, and let Southside hospitality do the rest. Book a table, follow your appetite up the hill, and tuck in.
