Tucked away in Tollcross, a vibrant culinary hotspot in the heart of Edinburgh, is Indaba, a neighbourhood treasure that blends Spanish tapas with influences from South African and Scottish cuisines.

Indaba is passionate about promoting the philosophy of enjoying food and good company around a table, in keeping with the true meaning of the restaurant’s name, “a meeting place” in Zulu. This encapsulates their ethos, and they carefully curate their menu to bring together the best of Spanish, South African, and Scottish flavours under one roof.

Using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, they’ve developed a varied menu that caters to everyone, including beautifully plated vegan and vegetarian options. For appetisers, the matrimonios are a delicious marrying of boquerones and anchovies, or you can try their platter of Iberian cured meats with Spanish cheeses.

Meat lovers will be tempted by the slow-baked pork belly ribs in tomato and honey, or the skewers of chicken and apricot with homemade chutney. From the sea, fresh steamed mussels in cream sauce come highly recommended. Whether you’re veggie or partial to seafood, Indaba’s menu indulges all preferences and is perfect for both intimate dinners and larger groups.

So, if you’re looking for a place to soak up good vibes and great food, look no further than this laid-back eatery in the heart of Edinburgh.
