In Tollcross, Chaskaa Indian Restaurant channels India’s vast culinary heritage with poise and purpose.

Its name nods to a Hindi word for an irresistibly moreish taste, and the kitchen lives up to the promise with traditional street food and a special affection for seafood. Regional influences weave throughout, from the south’s slow-cooked traditions to the north’s creamy comforts, brought together by a deft hand with aromatic spices.

Dining here is about balance: heat and fragrance, smoke and silk, tradition and today. Beginnings are bold and familiar: crisp vegetable samosa and chicken pakora, or the herb-bright lift of pudina paneer tikka beside the smoky bite of doranga seekh kebab.

From the tandoor, the mixed grill and chicken tikka shashlik arrive with char and sizzle, while curries map a journey of flavour: coconut-laced chicken Chettinad, comforting chicken tikka masala and saagwala gosht.

Rice lovers gravitate to fragrant biryani, not least a Hyderabadi dum biryani that resonates across regions. Lastly, vegetarians find solace in paneer karahi and chana masala.

Make for Tollcross, take a seat, and prepare to catch the chaskaa.
