Perched on the top deck of the Fingal Hotel, The Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar brings a relaxed kind of luxury to the Shore in Leith, just two miles from Edinburgh’s city centre. With 2 AA Rosettes to its name and a scenic, maritime setting, it pairs polished hospitality with a quietly glamorous mood.

In the kitchen, contemporary Scottish cooking meets European finesse. A plate of citrus-cured salmon with gentleman’s relish feels bright and assured, while crispy ox tongue arrives with a delicate chanterelle tart and a whisper of Vin Jaune. Mains balance comfort and craft: lamb rump with courgette, basil purée, romesco and red wine jus, or a ribeye in classic Bordelaise with those signature Fingal fries.

There is indulgence in the margins too: burrata lifted by fennel, grapefruit and Exmoor caviar, and summer greens dressed with Fingal XO and horseradish. To finish, a poached meringue with Scottish strawberries and crème anglaise is light as air, while chocolate hazelnut cake finds a bright counterpoint in lemongrass sorbet.

From refined five-course dining to a lighter take on traditional afternoon tea, the experience extends to sophisticated, nautically minded cocktails, liqueur coffees and a glass of Champagne on Fingal’s Deck for celebrations or quiet afternoons alike. Guests are invited to set a course for Leith and let The Lighthouse do what it does best: steer the evening deliciously.
