dinner

A community treasure that occupies a special place in the hearts of those around Hamilton House and Stokes Croft, The Canteen is the people's kitchen and where anyone in the know can while away an evening with great food, company and live entertainment. Offering vegetarian small plates with a Eurasian influence.

Not ones for airs and graces, you are cordially invited to come to The Canteen however you like and unwind in their bright, modern restaurant. Inside, the establishment stays true to its name with an informal setup made up of an all-natural, approachable bar, an exposed kitchen and tables big enough for the extended family. During summer, The Canteen really comes into its own with its lively patio. As the nights get longer, eager diners pile into this outdoor, sheltered space that simply buzzes with happy chatter and the low hum of the entertainment inside. It's one of the best places to be in Bristol over the warmer months. Yet stays busy year round with music every night of the week.

The Canteen is fully committed to the well-being of its community. That's why they source all their ingredients locally and support local farmers. Their evening menu is awash with seasonal veggies that make up their stunning vegetarian and vegan menu. Enjoy innovative dishes for example like oyster mushroom calamari, celeriac steak with a creamy butter bean puree, and pearl barley risotto with Jerusalem artichokes and candied walnuts.

The snacks and sides work brilliantly alongside your main dish. With tasty nibbles like housemade kimchi, homemade bread, and loaded potatoes, this is hearty meat-free food as you've never tasted it before. Whatever the weather, there's a seat for everyone at The Canteen.
