dinner

In the heart of Bishopston, Uncle Wah’s glows with neon charm, channelling a playful, modern take on Chinese comfort.

The mood is casual and lively: the hiss of the wok and the whisper of bamboo steamers set a tempting rhythm, while bold colours and bright lights add a sense of theatre to every table.

Dim sum takes centre stage, from delicate xiao long bao that brim with savoury broth to crystal shrimp dumplings that gleam beneath their translucent skins. Fluffy bao swing between the sweet nostalgia of barbecue pork and the indulgence of salted egg custard, while golden, deep-fried squid cakes and crisp fried duck spring rolls bring satisfying crunch to the mix.

Beyond the baskets, roasts arrive with time‑honoured swagger: whole, half, or quarter roast duck with glossy skin, and slices of crispy belly pork that crackle at the bite. Bowls wander wider across Asia, with dry‑fried beef hofun, a tom yum‑kissed tangle of udon, and comforting rice plates from Thai green curry to katsu chicken curry.

Ready to dim sum and then some? Step into Uncle Wah’s and wok this way.
