Tucked within one of Brighton’s iconic seafront arches, The Winkle brings coastal charm and crafted flavours to the promenade.

A stone’s throw from the shoreline, it unfolds across a suntrap patio for forty and a split-level interior with a mezzanine and intimate dining room for fifty, setting the scene for everything from languid lunches to candlelit suppers.

The kitchen leans into Brighton’s seaside larder with a confident, comfort-meets-contemporary touch. Simple nibbles, such as marinated olives and warm focaccia with dipping oils, pave the way for playful openers: think crab mac and cheese bites with a lick of sweet chilli, or buttermilk chicken thighs brightened by cheddar and celeriac remoulade and a squeeze of lemon.

Mains balance indulgence and freshness. A hasselback aubergine arrives layered with mozzarella, pesto and parmesan over a rich marinara, while crab linguine twists through fresh chilli, lime and garlic for a clean, briny lift.

Sides are anything but afterthoughts, from crushed potatoes glossed with seaweed butter and scattered with crispy capers to seasonal greens tossed with asparagus, spring onions, peas and mint.

Equally suited to fine dining or a lingering lunch date, The Winkle keeps things relaxed, welcoming, and dog-friendly to boot. Drift in for the breeze, stay for the flavours, and let this seaside spot put a little winkle in your evening.
