Hidden away on a side street near Brighton seafront is the Lion & Lobster, a charming and historic pub with a captivating atmosphere.

A real Brighton institute, this is a pub that everyone, from locals to tourists, associates with a good night out. With its eclectic mix of paintings, mementos and bric-a-brac, it has the welcoming feel of a museum that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Find a cosy seat in one of the nooks and crannies and prepare to relax with a pint or enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal.

If you’re after pub classics with a twist in Brighton, you won’t be disappointed by the Lion & Lobster menu. Cultivated by Head Chef Adam, this is a menu that holds its own proudly and does not disappoint. From twice baked Comte cheese soufflé served with heritage tomato kimchi to classic fish and chips, this is seriously elevated pub grub. Top picks include sticky black beer glazes, short-rib, pork belly porchetta with a jalapeño crema and hot apple honey, or what about golden beetroot tart tatin drizzled in a plant-based blue cheese dressing.

Whether you’re visiting Brighton and Hove or lucky enough to live nearby, a trip to the Lion & Lobster is a must. It’s popular with all ages: groups, couples, singles and families alike. You never know, you might just find this has become your new local.
