In Edgbaston, Baloci charts a course inspired by the Merchants of Venice and the far-flung voyages of Marco Polo.

Here, at this Michelin guide restaurant, refined Italian craftsmanship meets the bold, aromatic flavours of old Persia and South Asia, honouring a spirit of exchange that once travelled the Silk Route. The result is an immersive dining experience in which menu and ambience speak the same language: a rich tapestry woven from discovery, connection and the timeless beauty of cultures meeting through food.

Meals begins with a welcome canapé, a saffron and sweet potato arancini kissed with truffle oil, a gentle prologue to the merchant's tasting journey. Pan-seared scallops repose on beluga lentils with asparagus and a whisper of caviar, while beef fillet principale arrives with wild mushroom purée, a parmesan potato terrine and pink peppercorn sauce. Italian technique remains the compass, yet the seasoning and spice recall markets farther east.

Vegetarians find equal intrigue in cumin and cardamom beetroot cradling goat cheese parcels, and a risotto al funghi enriched by a cardamom mushroom sauce.

This is dining designed for lingering, for conversation and curiosity, as plates trace routes between continents. Set a date in Edgbaston, take the tasting journey, and let Baloci carry you from canal to caravanserai, one elegant course at a time.
