In the heart of Birmingham city centre, Chez Mal Birmingham serves up an urbane blend of bar and grill spirit with a subtle French twist. Think stylishly contemporary surroundings, a lively hum from the bar, and a kitchen that leans into bold flavours and quality produce, all delivered with modern polish.

Cocktails set the tone: signatures such as Bad Boy Good Girl and Pineapple Caipirinha bring sparkle and swagger, while the Cos-No-Politan and Forest Daiquiri keep things bright for those skipping the alcohol. It is the sort of room where clinking glassware, soft lighting and upbeat service conspire to make the first sip feel like the start of something.

On the plate, comfort meets craft. Starters like roasted butternut squash soup or crispy buttermilk fried chicken thighs pave the way for grill-centred mains, from dry-aged grass-fed beef in various cuts to grilled corn-fed chicken breast with pancetta. Indulgent sides such as black truffle and parmesan fries or French onion mac and cheese invite a little extra decadence, before a classic finale of crème brûlée or sticky toffee pudding.

For date nights, catch-ups or celebratory suppers, this is a dining room made for lingering. Book a table, raise a glass, and let Chez Mal bring the sizzle; city evenings rarely taste this suave.
