Brainchild from the unstoppable husband-and-wife team, Tony and Andrea O'Neil, is Buba. This outstanding eatery specialises in Eastern Mediterranean food in a vibrant, trendy setting.
Located in St Anne's Square, it attracts all the artsy, funky gang in Belfast. Its red neon lights make sure it stands out from the crowd, while the earthy colour palette inside of teal, orange and copper are reminiscent of age-old bistros in the eastern med. Settle in for a romantic night for two under one of their adorable origami lanterns or keep it upbeat and casual slouching on their vibrant, blue booth. You can even watch the talented chefs at work from your prime spot at the kitchen counter, pretend to dab on the sunscreen and lose yourself in the scorching Med.
Their mezze plates are the perfect way to start an evening of culinary magic and a great way to try as much as possible! There is also a merguez hot dog with sumac onions, a pulled mushroom slider and some devilishly delicious baklava stuffed dates. They're small enough to enjoy as nibbles alongside your tropical cocktail (or two) before the main event.
It might be a post-night-out classic, but no-one does a classic kebab like Buba and you can have yours with chicken, harissa halloumi or Turkish spiced lamb. Slather it with minted yoghurt for that irresistible hot n' cold combo. Vegans can get stuck into a wealth of dishes including a warming chard and lentil stew or, customer favourite, crispy aubergine fritters served with tahini and date relish. Order in some shawarma fries on the side and have yourself the Mediterranean feast you justly deserve.
