Bar Soba Hanover Street

Cuisine: Asian, Cocktail Bar, Street Food
Price Point: Mains from £10-£20

Remix your night out at Bar Soba with creative cocktails, Asian street food and tasty beats from international djs.

Occupying a prime location in Edinburgh’s historic New Town, this is about to become your new favourite spot for catching up with friends over killer cocktails and excellent grub.

Menus pay homage to the street vendors of south-east Asia, but everything is made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Dumplings, tempura and sweet, sticky ribs - their selection of small plates is sure to get your tastebuds dancing.

Still hungry? The larger dishes are explosions of exotic flavours. Expect all your Asian favourites such as prawn curries, noodle stir fries and mouthwatering meat dishes, as well as vegetarian options such as the smoky gyoza ramen, the perfect way to warm up on a chilly evening! A decadent collection of desserts ensure you’ll end your meal on a sweet note.

The cocktail list is equally creative and has been honed to perfection since the franchise first opened way back in 1999. Expect twists on the classics, such as prosecco pimped with lychee liqueur or the coconut and chilli daiquiri. Of course, if you prefer you favourite pour straight up, their expert mixologists will be happy to oblige.

From the moment we walked in to the time we walked out I couldn’t fault both the service and the food. Very friendly waiter , food delivered quickly and it was delicious . Add to the fact that we paid 50% less due to booking with first table and you have pretty much the perfect dining experience

When we arrived we were given a table next to the front door which was really cold every time someone walked in or out. The staff at soba were more than happy to accommodate our request for a warmer table and moved us straight away.
The service was quick, friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic especially the prawn gyoza to start. We felt very welcomed and comfortable while dining at soba. Good menu with lovely veggie options too.

My friends and I were all super excited to try out a modern asian restaurant and Bar Soba did not disappoint. The wait staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and gave some great cocktail recommendations. We were also blown away by the food which was all so delicious. We had a feast to start with with all the various dumplings, salt & pepper squid, popcorn chicken and wontons. I think the popcorn chicken was the favourite. The mains were all nice and substantial, although I think we could have enjoyed a full meal of just the starter list.

The atmosphere was fun and lively without being rowdy making it a fantastic night out for us girls. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our evening at Bar Soba. The food was good (although I expected the Pad Thai to be a bit bigger) and the cocktails delicious (although a bit on the pricey side). The music was also just a bit too loud for our tastes, although we could still hold a conversation if we spoke loudly! It took a while to request the bill, but other than that the service was great.

The overall experience was good, nice atmosphere, music and food. We were expecting food to be a bit more spicy and salty, but thats the case about anywhere in the UK. Maybe put some chilli/salt/soy sauce on tables so people can suit themselves :) The chicken lollies were amazing!
