Head to this quirky eatery for artisan meats and quality craft beer...

What started out as a popular sausage bar in Shoreditch, London, Pigsty has become a permanent fixture in the city’s dining scene.

Brought to you by the three Kohn brothers who founded The Jolly Hog, and their friend Will Collier, Pigsty offers a vibrant and fuss-free dining experience.

The menu is a temple to all things pork, offering sausage rolls and scotch eggs, as well as burgers and buns stuffed with roast pork belly, pork shoulder and sausages. All pork is ethically sourced from an outdoor breeding farm in Devizes.

They also offer vegetarian options, including the vegan ‘Pig Shy’ burger, packed with layers of crispy aubergine and bbq pulled jackfruit.

Be sure to wash your dinner down with a pint of their own craft beer or local cider! Situated on the historic site of a Victorian butcher, Pigsty will become your new dining spot in Bristol.

As a huge foodie I had already visited the Pigsty cargo container over at whapping wharf and I loved it. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that they had opened another restaurant on Gloucester Road! Since we booked through First Table, we dined early on a Sunday evening. This meant that the restaurant was quite quiet but that worked in our favour! Our waiter was attentive and informative about the couple of items that were sold out before we made our decisions to save any disappointment. We ordered the pig board to share between two and swapped the sold out hogettes for a vegetarian scotch egg. It was honestly to die for... think rich mushroom arancini ball with the delicious addition of a runny yolk!
The rest of the board featured pork in as many ways as you can imagine. The pulled pork and the duo of scotch eggs were my personal favourites for sure!
I definitely recommend dining at the Pigsty.

I had seen an excellent review of the Pigsty Sunday roasts, on a foodie Facebook page so was excited to see them on first table. We regularly go out for Sunday lunch and it had been on my list!

The restaurant itself has quite an industrial/hipster vibe, but is still cosy. As the name suggests, this place is all about pork! So, that was the only meat option for a roast, alongside a veggie Wellington. There was a separate children's menu, too for the little ones.

We all went for the pork roast which came out on a huge sharing board. I must say, it is a very impressive sight and quite Instagram worthy! The pork belly was served with sausage stuffing, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, veg (which included sprouts, carrots, red cabbage & swede), and gravy. Portions were plentiful and more gravy was brought out on request.

One thing that did bring down the experience slightly, is the metal plates. They were a nightmare, and kept spinning around, they don't rest on the tables properly and my daughter's actually ended up spinning off the table, and into her lap. It's definitely style over practicality with these.
