Cuisine: Japanese, Latin American, Peruvian
Price Point: Mains from £10-£20
Ranked: #7 of 80 restaurants in London

This destination restaurant is where Japan meets Peruvia, serving up sophisticated and firey dishes in a setting reminiscent of a cocktail joint in Miami.

With a focus on raw, grilled and gluten-free food, it is perfect for clean eaters as well as anyone with an interest in deliciously different sharing and solo plates.

The menu is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavours. Enjoy sticky miso glazed chicken wings, mixed seafood ceviche and pork belly bites served with sweet potatoes caramelised in agave syrup.

The side game is superb. Peruvian egg fried rice with soy and sesame is an explosion of umami notes, while Peruvian giant corn with sea salt, yuzu and coriander is not to be missed.

Take your pick from an innovative cocktail menu, selection of Japanese whiskies or delve into the exclusively Latin American wine list.

Our first experience at Mommi was fantastic, the service was great from the moment we walked in. There was a great vibe, good selection of cocktails and tasty food! We loved the fish and chips and trio of desserts! (Choc brownie, banana ice cream & chocolate mousse yum!)

I went to Mommi with 3 other friends. We had the ceviche, the sweet potato chips and broccoli to begin with, and for mains we had the flat iron steak, the pork belly bites and the beef brisket. The food was great and the waiter was very attentive.

We had a really nice meal at Mommi. Our server, May, was very warm and friendly, knew the menu very well - probably very convincingly made up anything she didn’t!

The flavours were quite stunning, a real fusion in any one mouthful. We were advised to have a small plate and main plate each but one small plate and two main were more than ample.

We had the pork belly bites and the brisket of beef; the beef was stunning and whilst the flavours of the pork were great, it was just a touch over cooked and dry.

The desserts were ok - inexpensive but not special, but a nice ending. Even without First Table it wouldn’t have been overly expensive. We’d go again.

Mommi was incredible. From when we first arrived, our waitress was attentive and welcoming. Happy hour is until 7pm so we were able to get delicious 2-4-1 cocktails to start off our meal. We started with the miso chicken wings, king prawns and ceviche, on recommendation of our waitress. The ceviche was so yummy and fresh - definitely the highlight of our meal! We followed with the flat iron steak, miso salmon, sweet potato fries and finished with a trio of mini desserts. Everything was amazing, I couldn't fault a thing. We wouldn't have discovered this gem without First Table and we'll definitely be back!

My partner and I Ioved this place! We shared a bigger plate and 2 smaller plates and it was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. The Tuna Tartare was definitely the highlight! Will definitely be back!

We had an amazing meal here especially as it's not a description of food that would ever have appealed (gluten free menu, good for celiacs etc.) It's very tasty, strong flavours, very friendly service as well as staff that evidently knew a lot about people's dietary requirements. The atmosphere was buzzy, 'trendy' but laid back. It was really good.

The only downside was it was quite loud, and when we were there, we happened to have a massive group of 35 year olds acting like they'd only just had their first beer and were REALLY loud, screaming song lyrics etc. But, it is a bar too I guess, and they finally quietened. I feel they could have done more to get them to quiet down a bit.

Anyway, would definitely come back. I love Japanese food and didn't know much about Peruvian, so it was a fab experience.

I've been here once before and had a good experience. This time exactly the same, the waitress was very helpful, gave a lot of information and provided some good recommendations. I'm allergic to some nuts but I am fine with some, unlike other restaurants they wanted to understand my allergy rather than "blanket" can't eat nuts. Generally very good experience!

Sometimes with deals like this you feel like second-rate citizens as you are getting a cheaper deal but that wasn’t the case here - staff couldn’t have been nicer food was great but would like a few more Japanese influences some Sushi would make the menu perfect — great place, great cocktails and a brilliant deal and incentive to eat a little earlier and enjoy more drinking time

Loved this place, our waitress was brilliant, took us through the menu and the specials, with excellent recommendations on what to not miss. The tuna tartare was delicious. Loved the fact that this restaurant encourages sharing. Shared 4 dishes and desserts between two and had a selection of 3 desserts. Will definitely be going back soon!

We arrived half an hour late with two children in tow in quite a flap but from the moment we got there we were welcomed and made to feel at ease. The venue was buzzy and packed from the outside (Saturday night) and seems quite popular with the drinking crowd. Inside was well-appointed and, as mentioned, the service was a highlight. We ordered the tortilla chips and edamame nibbles (the dips were interesting), miso glazed chicken wings from the small plates, fish and chips and flat iron steak from the large, and soy greens and Peruvian egg fried rice from the sides. Everything was consistently cooked, well presented and with a Peruvian twist (the cassava chips were really tasty). It’s Nikkei at its best and the hubby who isn’t really into Japanese was happy with everything which is rare. The wait staff were so warm, friendly and just the right amount of attention which is unusual for a vibrant, hip place like this. We loved it and would definitely be back if we’re ever in the area.
