For Mediterranean small plates that taste as beautiful as they look, you can't beat this new all-day hangout located mere steps away from Angel Station.

Founded by best friends Alex, Arthur and chef Tasos, the menu focuses on mostly plant-based dishes inspired by Crete.

Expect fresh, vibrant flavours such as halloumi with orange and crunchy pistachios or the famous courgette fritters with whipped feta. There are also seafood and meat options, including pork belly with apple labneh.

Can’t get out of bed on the weekend? Brunch lasts all day here so you don’t have to. Like something a little stronger than tea with your toast? Try one of the Mediterranean-facing cocktails. We love the Smoke and Honey (mezcal, lime and honey water).

Wooden banquette seating and a happy colony of house plants make the interiors just as Instagrammable as the food...

We had a lovely evening at Brother Marcus; the wait staff were friendly and easygoing and the food was amazing! I’m coeliac and was not spoilt for choice for yum gluten free options. We started with the tzatziki, baked feta, and baked cauliflower all of which had such interesting flavour combinations; before moving on to the burnt aubergine, pork belly and whitebait for our main meal. The pork was sweet, soft and crispy - everything you hope for from pork belly! Whilst the creaminess of the aioli and sharpness of the lime paired perfectly with the crispy salty whitebait.
Everything was very reasonably priced including the drinks and I would definitely recommend to a friend!

Loved our meal at Brother Marcus on Friday celebrating our anniversary. Great atmosphere, decor, music and staff.
This place has the best taramasalata we have ever had! The tatziki with fennel worked amazingly with the MUST HAVE fried buttermilk marinated chicken. Special mention for the sea bream for sharing, and dessert: cardamom and saffron panna cotta! The Mr opted for a dessert cocktail: spiced rum, tinctura espresso martini- Obvs!! All yummy. Thank you xx

This was my first experience of trying First Table and it was great!

The waitress wasn't weird about us having a voucher (which some places might be), she was super friendly and helped recommend some of the dishes to us. The pork belly is to die for, and for someone who doesn't like feta, the fried feta dish is an absolute must! The courgette fritters were exceptional as well.

When we arrived it was quite quiet, but soon filled up at the night went on, so it had a nice vibe to it. Drinks weren't overpriced either - we shared a bottle of house white wine and that was about £22.

All round - delicious with great service and I will most definitely be visiting again :)

Very very happy with our experience! Service was excellent from the moment we walked through the door.
The food honestly surprised us... we had six courses across the menu and could not pick a favourite!
The chefs really know what they are doing.
Thank you and continue making people happy.

The food was absolutely incredible, especially the cauliflower which is the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered the bread, pita, beetroot dip, prawns, lamb, okra, gnocchi and some desserts, which was way too much food but it was so good we couldn’t help but keep ordering more. Didn’t get the chance to try to cocktails but they looked delish. The location is also unbeatable in Camden Passage in Angel. 10/10, would recommend.

From the moment I entered Brother Marcus I was greeted by the most lovely waitress who was very helpful with food and cocktail recommendations.

Each dish was absolutely delicious, like mouth wateringly good! The ambience was fantastic and nice funky music played in the background which was a nice touch

The staff were very attentive to us and just so friendly, it really was a lovely experience, I am a real foodie and can be quite fussy but this restaurant has ticked all the boxes for me! I can't fault any of it and will definitely be back soon.

Amazing doesn't even begin to cover it. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the atmosphere exactly what we were after. There are 2 for 1 cocktails until 6pm, so make sure to get in and order a couple each before the deadline! We had; Roasted Squash (very fresh), Burnt Aubergine (taste sensation!), Chicken (all the right flavours) and Lamb (tender and textured). I would highly recommend all of these dishes. While it is tapas, the portion sizes are excellent. Easy to share, whilst being able to enjoy more than a mouthful each! To finish, we had the Honey Bombs, wowsers! Make sure you leave room for their "Heaven" dessert menu! Overall a wonderful experience, will definitely be back.

It was our first time at Brother Marcus last night. The food was ace, and service was genuinely exceptional. It’s a type of a place you don’t get really often in London: the staff were beyond friendly, helpful, they served the plates in a perfect order while being very discreet and polite. They really care about the place, food, and the guests.

Oh and... make sure you try the gnocchi. And for pudding - the farro pudding is a game-changer.

It’s just an amazing place! Thank you.

How have I not been to this restaurant before?! What an absolute gem! Based on sharing plates and the menu may initially seem small but there’s plenty to choose from- including for vegetarians like me. Everything we had was delicious and the service was also very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This may have just become my favourite London restaurant- I’ll defintiely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Had such a lovely evening on Friday - great food and very friendly service. Having not dined there before the waitresses recommended how many dishes would be enough for 2 of us and also which dishes were "must eats"! The pork belly was fantastic, and the whole roasted cauliflower was perfection - a hard thing to get right too! My partner wasn't feeling too well, and with no hesitation, they boxed up our remaining dishes! Despite it being a flying visit - I will definitely be going back.

Wow! What an experience. Brother Marcus were fantastic. The staff were so attentive, they made some fantastic recommendations and checked on us throughout our evening. One staff member even ran down the street to catch us after I had forgotten my bag. The food was amazing, every dish we had was delicious. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

Wow. Loved it all. The venue, the staff and the food. Had the octopus, the okra and the lamb but the most surprising and impressive thing for us was the bread. Like it was made by angels. Will definitely recommend and will be back also!

This was my second time at Brother Marcus and it did not disappoint! The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely and perfect for dates or catching up with friends as it is all low lighting and candle lit. The service is impeccable and the staff were really knowledgeable about the menu and able to advise well on how many dishes to get to share and what their favourites were.

Then the food... just WOW. The best part about Brother Marcus is that all of the small plates come with a sauce or puree so they are complete dishes rather than just snacks. Between 4 of us we had 10 plates including; The fennel tzatziki, beetroot hummus and their homemade lagana bread which is a must-have! The fried feta with honey was delicious but the star of the show for us was the pork belly which is cooked perfectly and has incredible crackling. It's served with an apple/cream cheese/yoghurt which balances it perfectly.
The fried chicken was also excellent and we had 2 portions of that and the pork belly! The slight disappointment was the lamb as it wasn't anything special once you had had the pork!
Overall a fantastic restaurant and excellent service and value - will definitely be going again!

Brother Marcus exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was relaxed and bubbly, the service intuitive and funny, the cocktails delicious and the food was just out of this world. I went with a group of 4 and we all really enjoyed ourselves. It was probably the best dining experience I've had all year, everything was just spot on. Would definitely go again and reccomend to everyone.

Brother Marcus was our first restaurant with first table. We really liked interior, especially lights above tables. Service was nice and friendly. His recommendations were good. He also knew the right amount of food for us. We started with Fennel and wild garlic tzatziki, Bread, Beetroot hummus and fried feta. Hummus was positive surprise for me as I usually don't like humus, this one was good. Bread was good, just a bit more oily, than necessary. Crispy cauliflower was very tasty. Marinated sardines wasn't my cup of tea, but my friend ate it all. We have ordered also something else, but I can't find the name on current menu on website. Dessert Honey bombs (we would love it with vanilla ice cream) and panna cotta very nice as well. We enjoyed our visit and definitely will be back!!

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by their staff and shown to our table. Brother Marcus has a warm, vibrant atmosphere that is welcoming, friendly and is a space that sets a precedent for the food you are going to eat. And by golly was the food amazing. Delicately looked after, each dish we ate was unique, delicious and absolutely wonderful. Our entire experience was amazing and I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you First Table and Brother Marcus for this experience.

Brother Marcus - Islington.
Short review - Delicious sharing plates in a cute space with lovely service and not too loud music.
Longer one …
I nearly didn’t go out last night as I was tired and miserable, but the lure of a good friend who I knew would make me laugh, interesting food and a half price deal won me over.
The friend :
Amanda, the festival loving one who has more in common with my 19 year old son and a vocabulary full of words like fauxmosexual and trustafarian.
The restaurant:
Brother Marcus, surprisingly hardly mentioned on The Restaurant Club (except for by that terribly nice doctor bloke Aaron Vallance who always goes to good places). A Greek eatery with delicious sounding food.
The deal:
A website called First Table which, for a fee of £5, offers early tables with half price food.
I don’t see the problem with eating early. Firstly, I’m from Leeds, where, growing up, we would have ‘teas on knees’ in front of the telly at 5.15 while watching Happy Days or Mork and Mindy. (If that’s not the height of sophistication, I don’t know what is). Secondly, I’m always hungry. Thirdly, if you eat early, you can get into bed early too. It’s all good.
My day at work had been grim and I’d barely cracked a smile. However, there was one joyous moment, when a colleague, whose mother tongue is not English, sent round an email complaining that someone had been rifling through her things to find a key and entitled it “My Drawers”.
Camden Passage in Islington is a lovely street, perfect for strolling and coffeeing. Brother Marcus, with it’s laid back feel, foliage and bare bricks fits in there perfectly. When we arrived they were “getting our table ready” and we looked over to the bench facing the window with two places set next to each other, that was, in restaurant seating hierarchy, only one up from the table next to the loo. As Amanda commented, it would be perfect for sitting on alone, drinking coffee and peoplewatching, but hey, we were on a deal so we were bound to get ‘the s******t table in the house’. Actually, it didn’t matter, we swivelled round to face each other and her breath was fine.
Our waitress was well up for it and seemed genuinely delighted to help us make good choices. The first dilemma was deciding what to drink. Sadly, beverages, alcoholic or otherwise, were not part of the half price gig and we decided against cocktails as they would negate the husbandry of the evening. And anyway, they looked tiny. On studying the menu, I commented that £650 was a lot for a pint of beer, to which Amanda replied: “it says £6.50 love” and gave me her reading glasses. There were only two choices and our lovely waitress let us try them both, making it more fun by doing the Pepsi thing where we don’t know which is which. I had a 50/50 of making an intelligent comment, but I failed miserably proving that I just don’t know my Pilsner from my IPA. We weren’t that keen on either anyway, so moved onto choosing a red wine. Again, our still patient server, brought us two to try - the house and, her favourite (apparently), which was a few quid more. No prizes for guessing which one we were perfectly happy with.
The menu, in true 2019 style, is split into Nibbles, Land, Sea and Earth. There are no courses as such and one can order any combination. We started with the Lagana bread, hazelnut dukkah and olive oil together with fried feta with honey and sesame. Now how can that be bad? Believe me, it wasn’t. Have a look at the Nibbles section in my photos - I could have happily just had the whole section for my meal.
We hoovered up the fancy bread and cheese, necked the wine and caught up with each other’s lives. Amanda’s was far more exciting than mine, stating that she has a lot of birthday parties in November which must be due to our parents’ generation’s “Valentine’s shags.” (Yes, I had to think about that one too).
Choosing our next delivery of food was not easy. Again, I could have eaten the whole Earth section, but we settled on courgette fritters with whipped feta and chilli jam and whitebait with some fancy leaves. (Ok for those who really want to know vadouvan, samphire and watercress salad). I would have happily gone for the sea bream which is my favourite fish after haddock fish fingers, but hopefully there will be another time.
Dessert was slightly disappointing as I think we both compromised, Amanda not a lover of cardamon panna cotta and me not a cinnamon syrup fan. We made do with sticky toffee and metaxa pudding with dates which was very rich, shocker, and would have benefitted from some vanilla ice cream.
All in all though, a fabulous meal and a veritable snip what with the half price food deal. I had hoped that my daughter, who has now passed her driving test, would come and collect me from Edgware so that she could start paying back some of the 22 years of lifts, but she was in her jim jams when I called, so old faithful Tony had to come instead.
I’ve noticed the Brother Marcus has got a great daytime menu too and am looking forward to my next visit. A new one to try folks.

Despite turning up 20 minutes before my reservation, the staff were happy to seat me while I waited for my friend, which was really appreciated. I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant, quite laid back but elegant, and the staff were friendly and efficient without being overbearing.
We shared a few dishes, most of which were really delicious; the lagana bread, beetroot hummus, fried feta and gnocchi. The only slight disappointment was the aubergine with 62 degree egg. I had been recommended this dish by a friend, and the server mentioned how amazing it was, but I wasn't too keen. I found it really salty in places and didn't really think the egg was anything special. It wasn't bad, just not as great as I was expecting.
Overall I really liked Brother Marcus and would happily go back and try more dishes..

The restaurant's decor in Angel was nice and welcoming and we sat by the window where can people watch. We had the fried buttermilk chicken and muhammara, beetroot humous & pitta, smoked aubergine & tahini, tiger prawns & ouzo fregola, the heritage tomato & crustini salad and ended the meal with a saffron panna cotta dessert, between the two of us. They were delicious with our two favourites being the heritage tomato salad and the dessert! It was a tad expensive however, would definitely go back to try the other dishes!.

Excellent veggie dishes with friendly service. Interesting flavour combinations (10/10 for inventiveness) but not all dishes delivered on flavour. Was there early for a table of 2. No fuss, was able to seat me immediately. Service was great throughout.

Food was delish! Only dish I'd skip is the fried chicken which was a bit dry. Must do their version of lamb shish (if it's on menu), okra fritters and cauliflower.

Lots of natural light inside, great atmosphere overall with vines and greenery throughout.

Food was great but service requires improvement. Unfortunately the prawn dish was not great as it prawn was very mushy. For us it showed the prawn wasn’t fresh.

Staff didn’t explain the menu until we asked and we had to ask about the size of the food (tapas style for sharing), we had to ask how many dishes per person etc.

Staff didn’t come and ask if we enjoyed our food but just said “can I take the dish?”. Something I wouldn’t expect this to happen in a restaurant. This really let down the whole experience.
