Their select menu always includes a vegetarian showstopper, like the winter artichoke tart with kale, as well as something sweet- such as the English Apple tart tatin with Devonshire cream.
Even the drinks reflect the nearby hedgerows and forest floors, with seasonal cocktails and a small wine list of English, French and Spanish wines, as well as boutique South West spirits and Bristol Craft Beers. Relax in this friendly rustic restaurant's earthy tones, and enjoy some of the local countryside's finest produce.

Lovely meal at Shop 3. The food was really special- looked amazing and tasted better

Nothing like going to a very special, intimate restaurant and being served unusual ingredients. Who has ever heard of bullrush and being served icecream with bread for starters? Simply the best ingredients served with Michelin style aplomb. Would love to try more dishes and return as the menu looked ever changing with the seasons. Charming service only let down by a non working air conditioning unit in this never ending heatwave - so unfortunately desperate to leave without dessert which was a pity.

Lovely innovative menu, including locally foraged ingredients. Great selection of locally produced drinks as well. Excellent service too!

Very chilled restaurant. Started off with an oyster each which was the best I've had. Crab bisque was so delicious and not overpowering. All starters had lots of little extra pieces to taste like cubes of jelly, and flowers. Meat cooked really well. There was only 1 vegetarian main of gnocchi but this was lovely. We also had a generous side portion of cauliflower cheese, and crunchy proper chips.

A great early evening meal at Shop 3 Bistro. First Table allows you to try fantastic food at great restaurants at very reasonable prices.
My friend and I both went for the fish dish (Cod) described as Fillet of market catch, Orkney scallop vehicle, beetroot tartare and sea lettuce. Served with an extra side dish of cauliflower cheese which was also delicious.
We followed with a Coffee, ice cream and choice of liqueur.
The service was excellent and we will definitely be visiting this great restaurant again.

Absolutely loved our first visit to Shop 3 Bistro which we discovered through First Table. Kathryn greeted us very warmly and explained the concept and menu. The food more than exceeded our expectations - beautifully presented and sublime flavours. We enjoy fine dining and this was certainly up there. It was a shame that we were the only diners in this early evening slot as there was not much ambiance. However we are definitely looking forward to a return visit.

Our evening at shop 3 bistro was fabulous in all respects. The food and service were wonderful. We started with a conker gin (with samphire) and a rhubarb vodka that set us up well for a delicious starter of figs and olives. The mains of lamb and gnocchi were perfectly complimented by seasonal vegetables. We loved this place and will definitely be back. You really must go!

Shop 3 Bistro was absolutely wonderful! The servers were a perfect balance between personable and professional. The food was amazing and drinks (especially the sloe gin) were delicious. It was a great setting for a special occasion but not too formal either which I loved. Would definitely recommend!

Despite occupying the higher ground of Clifton, Shop 3 Bistro remains discreet and admirably understated- a kind of modesty accentuated by being nestled between the chained boredom of Thali and Pizza Express. With an unstilted commitment to serving the very best of what's in season, Shop 3 Bistro quietly simmers with an excitement and passion in demonstrating what British food can be. But this isn't illustrated purely on plates; both Kathryn and Ella at the Front of House are a wit in their profession and delight genuinely, in talking about their food- all the while maintaining a beautiful pace of service that is utterly unintrusive but attentive.
Always varied but succinct, Stephen Gilchrist and his deft team construct menus with such clarity of vision and finesse, using First Table felt like a heist. Everything on the plate is purposeful and when a dish does push the envelope, it does it respectfully and unpretentiously. As the saying goes, the early bird catches the Chargrilled pear, calcott onions, blood orange, poppy seed wafer, wild fennel, toasted rice cream, the Crisp sweetbreads, wild garlic, apple, roast aubergine, sauce vierge, the Manuka smoked sea trout, pickled cucumbers, roscoff onions, bagel crumbs, classic onion dip, the Saddle of Gloucestershire lamb, confit shoulder & kidney pie, hasselback potatoes, new season asparagus, the Confit duck a l'Orange, pommery crushed ratte potatoes, apple, orange, Grand Marnier jus, the Hispi Cabbage, bacon, goosefat, the macron with chocolate genache and salted caramel ice cream and assorted artisnal cheeseboard for 50% off.

We have a good time for the first time of shop 3 Bistro.
A small restaurant but full of heart. Simple menu but all good food. We were 2 adults plus 2 kids to have the dinner. We all enjoy so much!

My partner and I took her cousin to shop 3 bistro and it was one of the best meals we have ever had! Catherine was so lovely and attentive, as ever and it was a pleasure to see her again. The seasonal menu was so well balanced and a refreshing start to the lovely weather we have been experiencing lately. We had the lamb and the hake. My partner and I had to share, as all looked too lovely to pass up the experience! Thank you shop 3 bistro. We will be back with the parents!

Fab food and drink, my partner is a chef and he loved the food. We went with some friends that were visiting us in Bristol and we had a really lovely evening. The service was great, our waitress made alot of effort to find things out when asked things she didn’t know about. Definitely recommend and would go back and pay full price!

This was our second visit here, the last being back in December when we took some friends. The first visit was fantastic, all four of us loved each course we had that night, each trying different things and each having food envy. The service was spot on.
On Friday night I took my wife for a surprise Birthday dinner. We got a 6pm table through First Table and this worked well as we had plans each night over the weekend with other people so wanted to have a nice meal to ourselves. My wife likes to eat early so this table time was perfect for us. We didn’t have starters this time but were very tempted by the wonderful and unusual choices on offer.
My wife had the veg risotto which was so flavoursome and packed full of goodness and glowed luminous green. I am very much a meat man but would gladly order that in the future and be happy. I had the duck a l’orange which was beautiful and succulent and fruity, a really tasty dish. We shared the cheese for pudding and that was great. We love our cheeses and each one packed a great flavour. Service was once again great, not over fussy but they really do look after you. We will be looking forward to our next return visit.

We really enjoyed our meal at Shop 3 Bistro. One of us was a vegetarian and he really enjoyed the vegetarian option on the menu. It was lovely to have the restaurant to ourselves and the atmosphere grew as the evening went on. Our cauliflower soup with coconut was delicious and my duck l'orange was very tender. We would definitely head back again with or without an offer. Thank you for a lovely night.

We had a superb meal at Shop 3 and could not fault the setting, service or most importantly the food, which was delicious!
The restaurant staff also created an adapted menu for one of the party with special dietary requirements, which was really appreciated.
We will definitely be returning there again.

We ate here Friday night. The restaurant is a small, unassuming, shop front but inside was a warm welcome. The front of house was friendly and efficient and knowledgeable about the menu.
There was a choice of five starters and mains, either vegetarian, fish or meat. We chose the manuka smoked trout for starters which was delicious, followed by a confit duck à l’orange for my husband and a saddle of lamb for myself. All were well cooked with a variety of unusual accompaniments, my only criticism was the hassle back potatoes could have been more crispy. They were good sized portions and we did not need to order the extra sides that were available.
We enjoyed the meal immensely and will be revisiting.

We have been to Shop3Bistro a few times and the food has always been fantastic. I had the soup and halibut and my friend had the pork starter and steak, followed by tarte tartin. The staff are very lovely too - very tolerant of our indecision over the menu! The cocktail and wine menus are also excellent, particularly the hibiscus gin. You must go!
Catherine FILMER - dined at Shop 3 Bistro on 14 March 2018
I visited Shop 3 Bistro with a friend on Friday evening. We enjoyed a lovely meal from their small but delicious menu. I had the pork belly to start and my friend had the coppa. We were both very impressed with our starters. The pork belly was beautifully cooked. The orange miso and onions complemented the pork belly beautifully. For mains, I chose the venison and my friend chose the ribeye. Both meals were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The meal was accompanied by a St Emillion red wine which complemented the meal nicely. For dessert, we chose the tarte tatin. I have to say this was amazing. The tarte tatin is for 2 people. It is served with caramel sauce, cream and ice cream. It was so delicious, I would have liked some extra cream and ice cream with it! The waitresses were very lovely. Catherine deserves a special mention as she was especially friendly and helpful. What we couldn’t eat we took home with us. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take home the remainder of our bottle of wine due to the restaurant not having the license for this. We were not rushed from our table and did not have to vacate the table by a certain time. Overall, a lovely evening.

Went to Shop 3 last night and loved it! We walked in and instantly felt welcome.
We both went for the pork belly to start, which was melt in your mouth delicious, not too fatty and worked surprisingly well with the orange sauce. My husband is usually very fussy when it comes to his steaks but he raved about his perfectly cooked ribeye and triple cooked chips! I ordered the pheasant, which I’d never had before but it was SO GOOD, and the waitress was very kind to recommend a great red to go with it.
It was one of the best dinners we've had in Bristol, outstanding food and great service. Would definitely recommend for a 'rustic' dining experience - can’t wait to go back!
